There are six auxiliary Interstate highways being proposed for approval and construction in the United States, as of 2021.
Interstate Highway 149 (Arkansas): Proposed Interstate designation for the eastern portion of the Springdale Northern Bypass, which has been under construction since 2015 and is currently signed as Arkansas Highway 612. I-149 would run from I-49 and US 71 near Lowell to currently-existing US 412 east of Sonora and just west of Beaver Lake. I-149 would run concurrent with US 412 for its entire length, and the western portion of the Springdale Northern Bypass (west of I-49) will be signed as US 412 to currently-existing US 412 west of Tontitown, with a connector highway to Northwest Arkansas National Airport currently in the planning stages.
Interstate Highway 197 (North Carolina): Proposed to run along US 70 from I-97 in Jacksonville, NC to Morehead City, NC.
Interstate Highway 214 (Texas): Proposed to be the loop around the Bryan-College Station, TX area.
Interstate Highway 644 (Oklahoma): Proposed full orbital loop around Oklahoma City, OK. I-644 is planned to incorporate the routing of the current John Kilpatrick Turnpike when completed.
Interstate Highway 869 (Texas): Proposed Interstate designation for the entirety of the Texas State Highway 99 beltway when it is fully completed. The I-869 designation would fully replace the Texas State Highway 99 designation, and the beltway is expected to be finished by 2035. Also known as the Grand Parkway.
Interstate Highway Z-260 (Zeconnemeleth): Proposed as Zeconnemeleth Route 260 in the 1960s and 1970s but was cancelled due to strong local opposition. The freeway would serve as a southeastern bypass of Qambleyridge and run from I-Z60 in western Qambleyridge to I-Z60 in northern Simsbury, serving the cities of Kanahrahtens Oakes and Simsbury. With the re-designation of Zeconnemeleth Route 60 as I-Z60 in 2002, this freeway would likely have been re-designated as I-Z260 had it been built. In spite of the freeway's cancellation in the 1970s, the Zeconnemeleth Department of Transportation (ZCDOT) has renewed interest in the concept of a eastern bypass of Qambleyridge as an Interstate Highway Z-260 (I-Z260).
