The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the highest level of men's professional basketball in the world. Founded in 1946, basketball was invented in the late 19th-century and the first professional basketball leagues started in the 1920s. There are currently 36 teams spread across two conferences - each are divided into three divisions. Each team plays 82 games in a regular season, and the NBA Finals is the championship round at the end of the season, with its winners receiving the Larry O'Brien Championship Trophy.
