Piggly Wiggly is the most common and most popular grocery chain in the state of Altamasstachia - more Piggly Wigglys are in Altamasstachia than in the rest of the United States (combined!). In fact, so popular is Piggly Wiggly that the colloquial expression for going shopping for anything (anywhere, not just a grocery store) is that one is "going to Piggly Wiggly," similar to the colloquial term for any soft drink in the American South is "Coke." Whereas the average square footage of a Piggly Wiggly in the other 21 states served by the company is about 25,000 square feet, the average Piggly Wiggly in Altamasstachia is about 80,000 square feet - not to mention that Piggly Wiggly operates Piggly Wiggly Supercenters (which have gas stations (some including car wash services), automotive care services, in-store food courts or fast food, compete with Wal-Mart and are as big as 180,000 - 260,000 square feet) and Hoggs (a membership-only wholesale club chain exclusive to Altamasstachia). The Altamasstachia division of Piggly Wiggly (whose world headquarters is in Memphis, Tennessee) has its headquarters in St. Ann, Altamasstachia (which is also home to the Piggly Wiggly Arena). Needless to say, Altamasstachians dig the Pig.

It may be easy for Wal-Mart to be extremely lucrative in the rest of the United States, and in much of the world. However, when your main competition in Altamasstachia is Piggly Wiggly, you'll know that Wal-Mart's promises of "Always Low Prices - Always" and "Save Money - Live Better" are going to be a hard sell compared to "Local Since Forever."
