Creighton is the principal city of the Creighton-Orford Beach-Arbuthnot City metropolitan statistical area, which is the fifth-largest urban area in the U.S. state of Altamasstachia. The Creighton metropolitan area boasts a total population of 942,577 according to the 2021 estimate from the U.S. Census Bureau.
Creighton was founded in 1812, but like San Gerardo Bravo to the northwest, was never more than a small regional outpost known for its fishing industry until the mid to late 19th century. Trade between the United States and other nations including the United Kingdom (particularly between Altamasstachia and other American ports on the continental mainland and Mallettbarr, a Crown Dependency of the British from 1733-1926, an Australian-administered territory from 1926-1928, a U.S. territory from 1928-1938 and a U.S. state since 1938) helped to gradually build Creighton's economy as one dominated by retail trade, especially along the Pan-Pacific trade routes. In the 20th century, as the United States eventually acquired the previously British territory of Mallettbarr from Australia in 1928 (which eventually became a U.S. state ten years later) and with the advent of automobiles and the highways across Altamasstachia and the rest of the United States offering long-distance commuters a helping hand, Creighton would boom in population in the years after World War II. Today, Creighton is a major port city on the Arbuthnot Coast and is known for the Port of Creighton (the fourth busiest in Altamasstachia), and the Creighton-Newmarket Fellows Ferry which takes commuters across the Sea of Orr (marked on the map as the Pacific Ocean) between the U.S. states of Altamasstachia and Mallettbarr, and it takes about seven and a half hours to complete a one-way trip from Creighton, AT to Newmarket Fellows, ML. Creighton is the headquarters of retail firm Lester MacGuffin as well as three Fortune 500 private firms. Creighton is also a nerve center of specialty automotive industries that convert left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles to right-hand drive (RHD) for export to Mallettbarr, as Mallettbarr drives on the left side of the road (and likewise convert RHD vehicles to LHD vehicles). The Creighton metropolitan area is served by Altamasstachia State Freeway Routes 2 and 17 as well as State Freeway Routes 102, 302 and 502, and Creighton Regional Airport is located in Northeastwood. Creighton is home to the University of Altamasstachia, Creighton (home of the Aces), and in professional sports, plays host to the Creighton Lancers of the Altamasstachia Bowling Federation, the Creighton Ospreys of the Altamasstachia Baseball League, the Creighton Valkyries of the Altamasstachia All-Pro Football League, the Creighton Surge of the Altamasstachia Basketball League and the Creighton Thunderbolts of the Altamasstachia Hockey League. A gateway to Southern Altamasstachia for those taking the ferry from Mallettbarr to the south, and certainly the nicer side of the Sea of Orr. Creighton may not be the most important port city in the state, but they're giving it their all to remain one of Altamasstachia's most relevant destinations, and they have a sunny outlook.
The city of Creighton is divided into 12 distinct neighborhoods. Listed in alphabetical order: Acipco Ridge, Brookings, Cape Langlois, Cupaiwac Park, Downtown Creighton, Dundley Beach, Ivesdale, Monkbridge Cresta, Orrview, Poinciana Key, Radio Mound, Walrose
