There are 24 distinct geographical and economical regions in the U.S. state of Altamasstachia, each with their own identity, culture and defining geographical features. The Clapton Line, or the northernmost boundaries of the counties that comprise the Clapton Range, divides the state into Northern Altamasstachia and Southern Altamasstachia, with the Clapton Range itself technically considered part of Southern Altamasstachia. As of the 2020 U.S. Census, 35,222,127 inhabitants live in Altamasstachia - 30,159,864 live in Southern Altamasstachia and 5,062,263 live in Northern Altamasstachia. About 85% of the state's population lives in Southern Altamasstachia. The 24 regions of the state are also the state's respective television/radio markets.

Arbuthnot Coast - Named for Sir Charles James Arbuthnot (1800-1868), a French-born British explorer and settler of the area, the Arbuthnot Coast is the southernmost coast of the state and also comprises the Luthra Keys, an archipelago of small islands that extends as far south as 37 miles off of the coast of Tsangarides County, Mallettbarr. In addition, the Creighton metropolitan area is located in Arbuthnot County and the region is the most visited tourist region in Altamasstachia apart from Olympia, San Gerardo Bravo and St. Ann.

Bauryshire - Bauryshire, also known as "the Baury," is a region of rugged, hilly plateaus with an individualistic, rustic culture. Bauryshire was the center of an uprising by its local citizens against the state of Altamasstachia who sought to have Bauryshire secede from Altamasstachia and become its own state. The rebellion lasted in the summer months of 1881 and was quashed by the state militia. The Balbert metropolitan area is located in this region. The local economy is dependent on forestry, agriculture, chemical industries, a variety of small-firm manufacturing companies and tourism.

Colbert Coast - Named for Lonyrus Taurus Colbert (1802-1868), an English settler of the area, the Colbert Coast is an important economical and tourist region east of the Olympia metropolitan area and the Southern Central Plains.

Crimson Hills - These forested hills are so called the Crimson Hills due to the unusual redness of the trees' physical appearance during the seasons of spring, autumn and winter - and maintain their colour during the summer seasons.

East Clapton Range - The eastern part of the Clapton Range, an area of semi-arid desert in the center of the state.

Foxbridge - Foxbridge, while the chief center of population in this area, is also a commonly used loose term to describe this somewhat mountainous region of Northern Altamasstachia. The city of Foxbridge is located in Venus County, in the southeastern part of its namesake region.

Great Forested Hills - A vast expanse of treelines, hills, plateaus and buttes adorn this predominantly wildlife-oriented part of the state and is a popular camping destination.

Hamperhills - Another tourist destination, the Hamperhills are located in central Northern Altamasstachia and many rich people live here.

Huey Watershed - The Huey Watershed is named for the River Huey which runs through the region and refers to the inland drainage basin of the River Huey system and the many streams, creeks and minor rivers that feed into it as well as the valleys and temperate rainforests. It is also the only known habitat of the white wasp (AKA winter wasp, snow wasp), a critically endangered species of white-colored wasps that were once native to southwestern Altamasstachia and gradually started dying off about an estimated 6,000 years since humans first inhabited the area. The Huey Watershed is frequently cited as a candidate for extensive ecological preservation.

Humbarton Valley - The Humbarton Valley is named for the River Humbarton which runs through the region. This is also referred to as the Heston region, as Heston is the state capital of Altamasstachia.

New Scotland - Named by English and Scottish immigrants to the area for its similarity to the overall geography, New Scotland is also known as Northeastern Altamasstachia and is an important region of population and a distinct culture of its own.

Olympia - The Olympia metropolitan area is the largest in population in the state, and along with parts of the Arbuthnot Coast, Colbert Coast, Humbarton Valley, Southern Central Plains and Toadstool Bluffs make up what is considered Southeastern Altamasstachia. Major cities include Olympia, Esteban, Seville Gardens, St. Ignatius, Wetsitburrell, Celestial Gardens, North Olympia, Los Reyes and Everado.

Orion Fields - A valley of agricultural fields along the River Orion, for which the region is named.

Ruckerts Land - This mountainous area of Altamasstachia includes the Ruckerts Mountains, the Geoffrey Range (including Mt. Geoffrey, the highest natural peak in Altamasstachia at 12,680 ft.), and many cities and settlements where mining of natural resources (i.e. coal) are centered. This region is home to the largest known deposits of anthracite coal found in the United States outside of the continental 49 states and is also a popular tourist and recreational destination. Ruckerts Land is Altamasstachia's largest region in terms of land size.

San Gerardo Bravo - The second largest metropolitan area in the state, the San Gerardo Bravo area makes up part of what is considered Southwestern Altamasstachia along with the Huey Watershed and the Two Saints Coast. Major cities include San Gerardo Bravo, Battaglia, Ponce de Gabriel, Timmurico, Hollister Heights, Fort Juan Soto and Monte Alberro.

Southern Central Plains - The largest region by number count of counties in Altamasstachia, with 61 of Altamasstachia's 550 counties. The Southern Central Plains are Altamasstachia's main agricultural area.

St. Ann - The third largest metropolitan area in the state. Major cities include St. Ann, Fritzport, Lethbridge, Romansville, Fort Swann and Almonaster City.

St. Kenneth Prairies - A predominantly agricultural region, the St. Kenneth Prairies are named for the chief center of population and the local economy, St. Kenneth and are an area of tallgrass prairies and corn fields.

Toadstool Bluffs - The Toadstool Bluffs are a region of hills, ridges and bluffs nearby the Arbuthnot Coast and play host to a variety of fly agaric mushrooms.

Two Saints Coast - The Two Saints Coast is so named for being between San Gerardo Bravo and St. Ann, and is home to a substantial population of people of Asian origin, particularly Japanese Americans, Korean Americans and Chinese Americans. The counties of Nakamura, Palo Alto and Yamamoto are notable for boasting the highest percentage of people with Asian ancestry in the United States, the largest such group being Japanese Americans. Other counties in the region with a significant Asian-American population include Houser, Mattingly, Nelson and Santa Barbara.

Upper Josiah Plains - Situated along the upper River Josiah, these plains are primarily used for agricultural purposes.

West Clapton Range - The western part of the Clapton Range, an area of semi-arid desert in the center of the state.

Wild Basin - Rolling hills and valleys comprise the Wild Basin with a strong sea breeze.

York Country - East of Ruckerts Land, south of New Scotland and north of the Clapton Range, York Country features many hills, bluffs and ridges.

The northern and southern regions of Altamasstachia are separated by an imaginary boundary on the
northern edge of the Clapton Range, known as the Clapton Line.

The Clapton Line and the Clapton Range, as well as Clapton County, are named for Sir John William Clapton (1813-1893), an English immigrant who served as an admiral in the U.S. Navy and became a local surveyor and politician in southern Altamasstachia.
