While controlled-access highways are known as Interstates and freeways (whether part of the Interstate Highway System or not) in the rest of the United States, state highways built to Interstate standards are known as motorways in the U.S. state of Mallettbarr. Nine of Mallettbarr's state highways routes have been fully built or partially re-constructed in certain areas as motorways. This includes Mallettbarr State Highway 205 (the only auxiliary loop highway in the state) that serves the state capital of Melvinsboro, located in Whittaker County. Since its days as a British overseas territory, Mallettbarr has always been LHD (left-hand drive). Referendums that challenged the state's status as a left-hand drive jurisdiction were put to the polls in 1938, 1952, 1958 and 1970 - each saw the state voting in favor of keeping the left-hand driving laws as opposed to switching over to right-hand drive (RHD) so as to be like the other 54 states. (The 1970 referendum was soundly defeated - 82% voted against converting over to RHD.) Mallettbarr State Highways, Trunk Highways and Farm-to-Market Routes are built and maintained by the Mallettbarr Department of Transportation and Public Works (MLDT&PW). The route marker at the southwest part of the image is what a route marker for a Mallettbarr State Highway looks like. Mallettbarr constructed its motorways between 1958 and 1981, with the final segment shown on this map being the entirety of Mallettbarr State Highway 205 (the loop around Melvinsboro) opening in late 1981. A tenth motorway, Mallettbarr State Highway 63, has been under construction since 2016 and is scheduled to fully open by 2027. All motorways, with exceptions in urban areas (a rare sight in this state), are four-lane (two lanes each way) and carry a speed limit of 70 mph at maximum and 50 mph at minimum - owing largely to Mallettbarr being mostly rural by a longshot. It is estimated that 92% of vehicles registered in Mallettbarr are right-hand drive vehicles and as such are imported from LHD countries, mainly Australia, Japan, the United Kingdom and South Africa. (There is a company in Altamasstachia that converts LHD vehicles to RHD vehicles to be shipped to Mallettbarr and likewise switches RHD vehicles to LHD vehicles for common sale in Altamasstachia and the rest of the U.S. - but shhh... don't tell anyone in Mallettbarr that! Mallettbarrites consider their northern neighbors their biggest rival and so want absolutely nothing to do with the Bayflower State.)

The Mallettbarr State Highways that are motorways (either for their full length or highways which are motorways in segments), are owned, operated and maintained by the Mallettbarr Department of Transportation and Public Works (MDTPW). While motorists drive on the left side of the road in Mallettbarr (the only other U.S. jurisdiction to do so is the U.S. Virgin Islands), Mallettbarr facilitated the construction of its motorways from 1958 to 1981 and the motorways are built to Interstate highway standards as defined by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Like Altamasstachia, Mallettbarr has neither Interstate highways nor U.S. numbered highways, and both U.S. states have their own network of controlled-access highways that were built with and are maintained exclusively with state funding (neither of which are part of the National Highway System). Currently, nine Mallettbarr state highways are motorways with a tenth motorway proposed since the 1990s and currently under construction. The speed limit on all motorways in Mallettbarr is a maximum of 70 mph (113 km/h) and a minimum of 50 mph (80 km/h).
