Governors of Michigan (1835-1857)
This is a list of the governors of Michigan who also presided over the territory of what is present-day Superior, when Superior was the "Upper Peninsula" of Michigan (from which native Yoopers derive their demonym through their dialect and culture to reflect upon this part of their history). From 1818 to 1836, the Michigan Territory would also encompass land in the present-day states of Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin before those lands were ceded to the Wisconsin Territory.
