North Carolina v. Zeconnemeleth - The Two Supreme Court Cases Between the Two States

The relationship between the U.S. states of North Carolina and Zeconnemeleth began on April 3, 1779, when the island of Zeconnemeleth was annexed by the North Carolina state legislature. The island of Zeconnemeleth would be administered by the North Carolina state legislature as the Protectorate of Zeconnemeleth, similar to the District of Maine which was in the possession of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1780 to 1820. The relationship between North Carolina and Zeconnemeleth grew acrimonious over time, especially in the antebellum period prior to the American Civil War. Owing to political and cultural differences, residents of Zeconnemeleth greatly felt they were neglected by the North Carolina government and that they were essentially shut off by North Carolina.  Tensions between North Carolina's state legislature and the Zeconnemeleth residents reached a critical mass and the point of no return when, on May 20, 1861, the North Carolina state legislature voted to secede

The 55-State Union Series Sports Almanac - Major League Soccer - Overview and Clubs

Major League Soccer (MLS) is the most recent in a series of men's premier professional national soccer leagues established in the United States and Canada, and represents the highest level of men's professional soccer in both countries. Founded in 1993 as part of a successful bid by the United States to host the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the league's first season was in 1996 and has so far managed to capitalize on growing American interest in the sport of soccer (particularly with millennials and Zoomers). With developments such as the proliferation of soccer-specific stadiums, implementation of the Designated Player Rule (which allows MLS clubs to sign star players) and national TV contracts, MLS is America's fastest growing league and their future is bright. There are currently thirty-three U.S.-based teams and three Canadian-based teams in MLS, and each team plays 36 matches in the regular season. The 55-State Union Series Sports Almanac - United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Cup Champions - The ABF vs. the UBL (1965-2021)

The USBC Cup is an interleague match between the Wittimer Cup champion (ABF) and the Dick Weber Finals champion (UBL) of the previous season prior to the start of each respective leagues' season, with its trophy awarded to the winner of a best-of-three contest. The USBC Cup has been a tradition since 1965, when the United States Bowling Congress proposed that the champions of the Altamasstachia Bowling Federation and the United Bowling League face off in a special night at the end of both leagues' playoffs each year, which both leagues unanimously approved. The ABF team has bested the UBL team in all but five contests in the USBC Cup since, and the USBC Cup is considered "bragging rights" by whichever team that wins. The only UBL teams to have won the USBC Cup against the ABF team are the Atlanta Strikers (twice), Cleveland Monarchs (twice) and the Dallas IronColts. 1965 - Olympia Generals 2, Houston Cadets 1 1966 - San Gerardo Bravo Cavaliers 2, Fresno Bombers 1 196

Until 1990, the UBL's championship format was known as the "World Series of Bowling" - the "World Series" part of the name was used by the UBL with copyright permission from Major League Baseball. In 1990, the UBL decided not to renew the naming rights agreement with MLB and instead chose to re-name the tourney to honor Dick Weber beginning with the 1991 edition. Since 2006, the UBL now retroactively refers to all of its championship series played since 1948 as the Dick Weber Finals. 1948 - Chicago Kingpins 3, Fresno Bombers 2 1949 - Detroit Thunderbirds 3, Minneapolis Skippers 2 1950 - Chicago Kingpins 3, Los Angeles Toros 1 1951 - Omaha Packers 3, Chicago Kingpins 2 1952 - Omaha Packers 3, Detroit Thunderbirds 1 1953 - Cleveland Monarchs 3, Omaha Packers 2 1954 - New York Liberty 3, Fresno Bombers 2 1955 - Detroit Thunderbirds 3, Los Angeles Toros 2 1956 - Fresno Bombers 3, Boston Fury 1 1957 - Omaha Packers 3, Cincinnati Spartans 1 1958 - Minneapolis Skippers
